About Gareth
| | Born in Pontypool, I studied fine art in Exeter and lived in Devon for 20 years before moving to East Anglia in 2003, where I now live and work. Prior to leaving full-time employment to focus on painting I worked in conservation, preserving ceramics, wall-paintings, mosaics, plaster-work and timber in ancient and historic buildings such as the Palace of Westminster, Hampton Court, British Embassy Prague, Berkeley Castle and St. David’s and Winchester Cathedrals. Having drawn and painted since a youngster, I love the challenge of finding and portraying subjects with textural and sculptural qualities. As well as showing successfully in a range of galleries my works have sold to the UK, Canada, Europe and Asia I was elected a Member to the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) in October 2016. .Solo & mixed exhibitionsBrewhouse, TauntonBurton Art Gallery , BidefordByard Art, CambridgeChalk Farm Gallery LondonEastern Open ExhibitionFyne Court SomersetGloucester Chapter House ExhibitionGreyfriars Art Space, Kings LynnNewcastle Gateshead Art FairNew York Affordable Art FairPatchings Art Centre, NottinghamQueens Arts Centre AylesburyRoyal Academy Summer ExhibitionRoyal Institute of Oil PaintersRoyal Society of Marine ArtistsRoyal West of England Academy OpenSouth West Academy Summer ShowSt. Barbe Gallery, LymingtonTenby Museum & Art GalleryUS Embassy, Grosvenor SquareVivacity Exhibition, CIty Gallery, Peterborough Wells Maltings, Wells next the Sea10 Gresham Street, LondonKing Edward VII ,Medical Centre, Marylebone, LondonTonic Gallery, SalcombeWisbech Gallery | AwardsEastern Open:Wyss Foundation Award, 2009 Selector’s Choice Best in Show, 2006 Public Choice, 2006 Public Choice, 2005
